making a difference

A reminder not to stop

I often talk to people who are overwhelmed by what they believe they have to do to be successful in life. They look at people who’ve done more and compare themselves. They can’t imagine what it will take to achieve their ambitions. Some people are so inhibited by what they think is the effort required, they end up doing nothing.

But here’s the trick; some tiny thing you choose to do today, some small contribution you make that helps move our world forward, makes your life almost instantly more rewarding.

It also instantly adds value to the whole of life, for all of us.

All the problems we face are the composite of millions and millions, if not trillions and trillions of small acts that were essentially thoughtless – without thought. The solutions come from the same place – millions and millions, if not trillions and trillions of small acts that are essentially thoughtful – full of thought.

Find the people who care about you and what you do. Let them find you. Don’t compare yourself. Be kind, reward yourself and others for the effort required to live a life of value.

We all do what we can.

That’s how we shape our world.

You matter, and I matter.

And this stretches out behind and in front of us for a very very long way.
